There are many RDBMS systems out there based on legacy software solutions and using commercial database products. This talk describes a methodology and software tools for performing a database migration in the context of a real-world Sybase to MySQL migration project.

This session details the software tools for performing a migration, including some real-world examples. These are tools for migrating Stored Procedures, data and schemas. Some of these tools are available from MySQL and some tools are build on a bespoke basis. In addition some commercial migration tools are covered.

Best practices for performing migrations, both of applications, business logic, and application code are also covered.
