Operating systems continue to evolve and diverge, offering the MySQL user an array of deployment choices. One choice is Solaris 10, a high performance, stable, feature rich, and mature operating system which is available for free on AMD Opteron, SPARC, and x86 systems.

This BoF will focus on some of the attributes of Solaris 10 which may be of interest to MySQL users. Members of the Solaris Kernel Group will give an overview of features in the operating system relevant to database deployment, including DTrace, Solaris Containers (Zones), the FireEngine TCP/IP stack, and much more. We hope to encourage questions, discussion and feedback about what the OS can offer to MySQL users now, and what it should provide in the future.
