SessionAlcatel: Building Scalable Telecom Databases with MySQL
Christophe Thivend, Development Manager, Alcatel
Subscriber databases are a key part of today's mobile and fixed communications networks, and are vital for the availability of communications services. One example is a Home Location Register (HLR), which is the main database for permanent subscriber information for a mobile network. The HLR contains key information that allows incoming calls to be routed to the mobile subscriber.
Such databases have to be extremely scalable to handle tens of millions of active mobile subscribers, and have stringent availability requirements since nobody can make a single phone call in case of downtime. In this session, Alcatel will present their requirements on a relational database product that can handle these scalability and availability requirements, as well as the reasons why they chose MySQL Cluster. |
