This BOF is a continuation of the "Data protection for LAMP/J applications" conference session.

We plan to explore various backup and recovery strategies available for MySQL database. Currently, MySQL has couple of tools - mysqlhotcopy, mysqldump that helps in database backup. MySQL replication and MySQL cluster are interesting configurations that make doing backup easier.

We would also like to discuss MySQL enhancements that improve MySQL backup and restore process. Backing up Live MySQL database would be of significant interest.

Backup and recovery case studies from MySQL database administrators would be also discussed.
