SessionMySQL and the Cisco Systems VoIP Softswitch
A. J. Blanchard
The current Cisco softswitch or BTS 10200 started
life in 1999 in startup company IPCell as the OptiCall. Soon after its
inception, MySQL was brought into the picture to help solve management
and billing related issues. MySQL has remained a part of the evolution
of the Cisco softswitch offering over the years changing as the
evolution of the data management requirements have changed. Including
some hard lessons along the way.
Today, the future is bright with a great incumbency in the cable US market and a significant EMEA presence as well. New roles are being researched for MySQL as part of the ongoing 3GPP IMS revolution. |
