Running a Top 500 Web Site with LAMP Stack and Commodity Hardware

Adam Donnison, Senior Web Developer, MySQL AB

Track: LAMP
Date: Wednesday, April 25
Time: 1:40pm - 2:25pm
Location: Ballroom C

MySQL AB runs a number of web sites including the popular Developer Zone community web site, which ranks in the top 500 web sites according to Alexa. With the ever increasing power of commodity hardware, and the level of sophistication provided by Linux, Apache, and MySQL, high availability, high volume web sites can be built for a surprisingly low cost.

In this talk, Senior Web Developer Adam Donnison will take you through the infrastructure and application modifications MySQL AB uses to run their web sites. It will cover the use of MySQL replication, MySQL configurations, Apache setup, and the use and setup of Linux-HA in achieving the volume and uptime requirements to serve the MySQL community and MySQL AB's corporate needs.
