In this presentation, Andi Gutmans will talk about the latest developments in the PHP eco-system with a strong emphasis on MySQL. Topics covered will include:
a) State of PHP (including MySQL specific metrics).
b) PHP development update with focus on MySQL drivers and how PHP 6’s Unicode will integrate with the existing drivers.
c) Overview of the SDO (Service Data Objects) project IBM has contributed to PHP, with specific use-cases of using it on top of a MySQL database.
d) Zend Framework’s Zend_Db and Zend_Db_MySQL overview, including going over some key use-cases in code and how we enforce certain database best practices in the framework.
e) Showcase how the new Eclipse PHP project integrates with tooling for the MySQL database.

The presentation is meant for system administrators, architects, web designers, and programmers who are responsible for professional web applications. The audience will get an in-depth update on the happenings in the PHP space, and will better understand the impact on their day-to-day technical lives of the various MySQL-specific advancements in the PHP space.
