Four-line Web Services for Your PHP/MySQL Applications

Mike Ho, Co-founder, Quasidea Development

Track: PHP and MySQL
Date: Wednesday, April 25
Time: 4:40pm - 5:25pm
Location: Ballroom B

While Web Services and SOAP were all the hype a few years back, only now are organizations starting to understand the value and use of web services to allow for other organizations to interoperate web applications with each other. Unfortunately, because the tools for web services in the PHP world tend to lag the more robust tools seen in the J2EE and .NET worlds, web applications in PHP tend to be more isolated when it comes to sharing data and functionality with other applications.

We will cover the basics and discuss the use cases for web services. Using PHP frameworks like Qcodo, we will demo an existing application and show how, by just adding a few lines of code, any part of the application can be made into a web service, now ready to be used by other organizations' PHP, .NET or J2EE applications.
