Session

solidDB Storage Engines

Ari Valtanen, Co-Founder, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Solid Information Technology

Track: Storage Engine Development and Optimization
Date: Thursday, April 26
Time: 2:30pm - 3:15pm
Location: Ballroom G

Ari Valtanen will introduce some fundamentals of solidDB storage engine for MySQL -- the disk-based OLTP engine -- and show by examples (case studies, benchmarks) what kind of applications and workloads it fits and why. Then, he will present the solidDB in-memory engine ( in beta), and explain the benefits and tradeoffs of in-memory processing with case studies and benchmarks.

Valtanen will explain how solidDB's Hot Standby replication can make MySQL database highly available (HA) without adding complexity to the application designers or DBAs, and how those can be applied to match the specific response time, performance, or availability requirements.
