BOF

MySQL Data Warehousing and BI

James Dixon, Senior Architect and Chief Technology (a.k.a. "Chief Geek"), Pentaho Corporation
Roland Bouman, Certification Developer, MySQL A.B.
Matt Casters, Data Integration Architect and Kettle Project Founder, Pentaho
Julian Hyde, OLAP Architect and Mondrian Project Founder, Pentaho
Brian Miezejewski, Principal Consultant, MySQL inc.

Track: Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
Date: Tuesday, April 24
Time: 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Location: Camino Real

This large, multitopic, multitable BOF session will bring together some of the top data warehousing and BI experts from MySQL and Pentaho, able to discuss a complete range of topics across BI and data warehousing.

Roland Bouman, MySQL certification engineer and Brian Miezejewski, principal consultant, will join Matt Casters, James Dixon, and Julian Hyde, Pentaho’s architects for the Kettle ETL, Pentaho BI Platform, and Mondrian OLAP projects respectively. Each will facilitate an interactive discussion in their area of expertise, and attendees are encouraged to visit more than one table to meet these experts and to network with other MySQL data warehousing enthusiasts.

Data warehousing and business intelligence span many different topics including user requirements, technology requirements, database and application design, performance tuning, best practices, and more. While data warehousing has been around for years, customer use-cases, technology, and the MySQL database platform all continue to evolve rapidly to open up new possibilities for exciting applications. Some of the issues and opportunities are specific to a given tool or technology, while many others are tool-independent and related to requirements, design, and project management.

Whether your planned or current data warehouse is only a few gigabytes, or more than a terabyte, and regardless of the scope of your BI needs, this BOF will give you new insights, and let you share your experience with other MySQL users.
